My popping pop culture poster... Interested to hear your comments, and what you think it relates to?

Movie Posters!

I had to create a number of posters for my Generated Image class.  Well I started off thinking huge of course.  I wanted to create my imagination like never before, but as time got closer towards the end of the semester I had to quickly get over my ego and think smaller.

I got the idea to take my three of my favorite directors and film writers and collage all their best movies into one image.

I basically used photoshop to cut out every individual picture and enhance them.  I think the Judd Apatow one really shows my selection tool skills (and quick mask of course) I litterly spent a lot of time on each photo cutting out just the portion I wanted in making it as perfect as I could.  I notice that Judd Apatow's movie covers all pretty much have the same style to them;  the main character large in the foreground with just one enhancing color in the back.  Its in my opinion simple but a great signature look for him.  I wanted to give this the same appeal, but the black background was the most graphically pleasing to me after I had already put everything else together.  I think overall it turned out okay.  Probably could be better, but I don't mind it!

The Tim Burton poster was actually my first in the series. Its not hard making a kick ass poster for him when your already using pieces from his own work.  Just wanted it to be an creative appeal as to how I see his work. I imagined it a lot different honestly, but I'm still pleased with it!

Wes Anderson is the man!! Darjeeling is one of my ultimate favorite films.  I think its like a ritual for me to put that movie on and light some in-scent burners with candles.  First time I watched that film it gave me a cloud of ideas, so I spent the whole night up all through the later afternoon writing them down.  He inspires me like none other...  Its just the feeling of things he brings to the picture.  I don't think I could ever express through even art how he inspires me.  This saddens me, but if you like his work at all I think you get the idea already!

Yellow Bubbles!

I took this photo of my younger brother Jeffrey blowing actually bubbles litterly bigger then his face.  I couldn't help but to get into the fun with my camera, and I actually got some pretty nice shots of the big ones, but this shot was taken to soon so there was no bubble yet.

This left open some imagination for me though.  I mean wouldn't be awesome if we could blow colored bubbles? I would have bubble parties.  Actually if I had a sweet ass bubble machine instead of my fan I use in the summer I already would.  Maybe my wedding recital will be a bubble party one day.  (I love bubbles!)

I decided the halftone pattern gave it some old kicking style flare and making it green contrasted nicely with yellow.  I'm already getting antsy to get some people up in here to correspond with so for God sake don't be shy...

I was at my grandparents house celebrating my brother Jeffrey's 13th birthday and I happened to be walking by my grandpa trying to push himself out his chair that sits directly under the living rooms front window.  The sun was naturally enhancing his facial features, so I quickly snapped this picture of him.  As you can tell he was surprised and argued with me that he was not worth taking a picture of after.

There is something about the facial features of older skin...  The wrinkles and little imperfections such as wild hair that you forget to care about as you grow older add so much more character to people.

I really don't mind the thought of growing old myself.  I'll be a booming granny!

You notice that when your older anything you do or say is just accepted by everyone because your suppose to be wise enough to understand yourself by then.  If you say something bizarre, do something out of the ordinary, walk sideways its just your signature personality and its naturally accepted as such and even loved more I think...

Not sure what Red Expression means honestly.  Just seemed to fit at the time... Another of Becca obviously at the same time and setting of the other one below!

As you can tell there is evident Photoshop done to this image.  This is another one of Becca.
It took me a while to convince her to take more photos, but I think it worked out to her benefit.

You will be seeing a lot of my sister Rebecca Flynn in my work.  I find she is the easiest to get to poise for me when I need to take some quick shots.  When I say quick I mean by being a full time art student its hard not to rush things.  I worked for a long time without any equipment of my own, so I would have to do everything I needed at my college when I could get out there.  I happened to need something new to work with an hour before I had to go out to the college.  I was like "Becca, please, please..." I had the camera pointed in her face, and she absolutely hates when I want to take her picture because she thinks she has to go through so much work to get ready, and no offense to her but she did look like sh*t that day.  I got her to fling on a blonde wig and some red lipstick and as time was running out before I had to leave I threw her the lamp in the living room and asked her to put on her devilish look like I should almost be afraid of the lamp being pointed at me. I think she did pretty good job myself...

As you can see I focused on the lamp bulb and thought it would be a different effect to leave her blurred out in the background.  Really all I had to do with the shot from there was check the levels and enhance the colors a little more using the photoshop program.
I ended up liking the whole idea with her in the blonde and red lips that I got her to take some more shots with me later.  I will post them up as well later...

Would really appreciate the feedback, and some tips!
